Street View for INDIA - WoNoBo

Much awaited street view for India is over now. People searched and tried to find Street View for Indian regions and it was invain when they didn’t get any results.
Good news for Indians is that it came to an end for street view search in google or other search engines.
Move over Google Street View. A medium-sized Mumbai-based mapping firm Genesys is looking to replicate the Internet search giant’s famed service with the launch of WoNoBo on Tuesday.
The company has so far been in the services business, creating map content for others such as Navteq (provider of electronic navigable maps), Nokia and Bing, and was involved recently in creating digital maps of Dubai, Mecca and Medina.

Wonobo street view is being launched initially for 12 cities -- Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Costal Goa, Kolkata, Agra, Pune. The remaining 42 cities will be launched over the following weeks.

Google Street View, which is currently struggling with Indian authorities to get the required permissions to take pictures of Indian city streets, works by capturing photos of almost every street in major cities and stitches the images together to create a 360-degree panoramic view of the streets, Genesys overtook them.
The site suffered from a little latency on Tuesday, but the company says the speed will improve in a day or so as they get everything in place.“Wonobo has reduced resolution of images to speed up with quality service provision and to cope with latency with internet speed, and in future mobile application may be expected very soon” Genesys Sources mentioned.

Wonobo, which has been incubated by an almost $35 million investment, is a 360-degree view platform that offers a 3D view of cities and comes with placeholders to point towards businesses, city guides, stories and walking tours.
According to industry insiders, Genesys has worked closely with government authorities in a bid to comply with regulations. They are the first urban chronicle of today’s India, having mapped panoramic imagery of thousands of square kilometres and close to 10 million places of interest across the country and  WoNoBo will be a major value creator for an entirely new ecosystem of businesses in future  told by Sajid Malik, CMD, Genesys International.
